Friends of Public Education in Indiana

Groups Supporting Public Education in Indiana

Education Community Action Team (ECAT)
Formed out of community action group meetings on the west side of Indianapolis at Big Car/Service Center for Contemporary Culture and Community. Members of ECAT attended most all of the Stand for Children's "What's Possible" meetings in Indianapolis where surveys and discussions were held on what is possible for education reform in Indiana. A training on "What to do when children are not the bullies?" was put together and held recently as well.

Education Forum of Indiana
This page has been setup to share information about education policy in Indiana. Currently, we are deeply concerned about the proposed changes issued by the Indiana Department of Education related to the Rules for Educator Preparation and Accountability (REPA II). We believe these changes are likely to undermine the capacity of teachers to address the educational needs of children with disabilities and their families.

Hoosier Educators in Support of Public Education

Hoosier Moms say NO to Common Core
Hoosier Moms put elected officials and any candidate who wants to represent us on notice. We REJECT the Common Core Standards in our education system.

Hoosier Voices for Public Education
This site is dedicated to the support of Indiana's public schools. We will discuss ideas, share information, and continue to hold our government representatives accountable. We will work together to stand up for Hoosier school children.

Indiana Citizens for Public Education
Indiana Citizens for Public Education represents a collection of educators, parents, and community members deeply concerned about the state of public education in Indiana and the larger United States. Important to note is that we are NOT: affiliated with a union; anti-charter school; defenders of the status quo; or uncritical of existing public schools. We are pro-public education, anti-school privatization, pro-teacher, pro-democracy, and, at the core, invested in supporting good public schools that help all of our children.

Indiana Coalition for Public Education (ICPE)
The ICPE is a new, bi-partisan non-profit organization. Its mission is to focus public tax dollars on the K-12 education of public school students by opposing legislation in the Indiana General Assembly that would:

  • fund private school vouchers
  • expand private school tax credits
  • privatize charter schools by allowing private colleges and agencies to be authorizers
  • put for-profit managers in place to take a profit from operating public schools
  • privatize public schools through any other means

Indiana Coalition for Public Education--Monroe County and South Central Indiana
Parent Community Network of Monroe County
ICPE of Monroe County and South Central Indiana is a grassroots organization trying to raise awareness around the attack on public education by corporate reformers and the politicians they have bought and influenced. We are parents, teachers, retirees and community members. We seek community engagement in order to empower our citizens to keep schools for kids, not for profit.

Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education
LinkedIn: NEIFPE
We are citizens, teachers, administrators, and parents united by our support for public education and by concerns for its future. Recent federal and state reform measures have created an over-emphasis on testing and have turned over public education to private interests. We believe that these reforms threaten the well-being of our children and jeopardize their futures. Our goal is to inform ourselves and to start community discussion about the impact of these measures on our public schools and, more importantly, on our children.

Parent Power Indianapolis
Parent Power is an organization made up of concerned parents and community organized to review curriculum, understand and access resources, and work towards holding teachers, school administration, parents and elected officials accountable to the educational needs of all children in IPS.

Parent Power’s Vision: Empower parents to become informed decision makers in the process of educating our children. To provide parents training in leadership so they will be empowered to be leaders in schools.

Parent Power was the first to invite all IPS School Board candidates to a public forum and has helped many parents advocate for their children's education in and around IPS. Our group is very diverse, including students, parents, teachers, school staff and community members.

Parents & Educators against the Daniels & Bennett Educational Reform
This page is dedicated to those who value our educational system and who work everyday to provide the best education for our children.

Save Our Schools Supporting Traditional Schools
This group was created by parents, teachers and friends of our traditional Scott County Schools! It will educate and inform the public about our schools and how charter schools will impact the traditional school! Feel free to join!
